Horizons
A new chapter in the English Chamber Orchestra's work with the musicians and composers who will shape what comes next.
New Horizons is the English Chamber Orchestra's flagship talent development programme within its wider Close Encounters initiative.
Its premise extends beyond discovery alone. Emerging artists will enter the professional life of the orchestra through sustained mentoring, rehearsals, workshops, performance, artistic development and professional guidance.
Three pathways sit at the heart of New Horizons: a string instrumentalist, a wind, brass or percussion instrumentalist, and an emerging composer. Across the programme, each will be given space not only to perform, but to develop within the working culture of a professional orchestra.
